For Partnership Members

2026 Partnership Meetings

The SLO Healthcare Workforce Partnership members meet monthly on zoom on the second Thursday of each month, from 9:00am to 10:30am PST.  These meetings focus on making decisions that support the overall implementation of the Partnership programs and the components of the Strategic Action Plan, particularly related to ensuring sustainable Partnership operations.

The Partnership's Strategic Action Plan includes 4 Strategic Priorities:

  1. Recruitment and Retention of Healthcare Employees

  2. Healthcare Career Pathways Development

  3. Fund Development & Advocacy

  4. Sustainable Partnership Operations

Three working Committees were formed in January 2024 to support the first three Strategic Priorities. Each Committee meets monthly for a working session and has a "Committee Agreement" that details the purpose, membership, goals, objectives, and meeting logistics. The working Committees provide status reports to the full membership at the monthly Partnership meetings. Go to "Committees"  for more information on their work.

    • Recruitment & Retention:

      • Provider Recruitment and Retention Studies/Strategic Plan Projects:  The two projects (physicians and behavioral health providers) are being implemented concurrently. Some of you are receiving invitations to participate in one or both of these two projects, depending upon their relevance to your organization. Zoom interviews are being conducted to discuss your organization's healthcare employment challenges (for employers) or the training programs that your organization provides (for educational institutions).  Each project will have two 2-hour planning sessions on zoom, which are scheduled to begin in late May and conclude in July.

    • Healthcare Career Pathways:

      • Healthcare Career Exploration Fair: We are partnering with Paso Robles High School to host a career fair to expose 200 or more students to career pathway options and training/education opportunities. The date is being finalized, but will likely be in early May. You will receive information very soon with the details to host a table, provide interactive experiences, or other ways you can participate in this event. In the meantime, please feel free to contact Alivia Shorter (ashorter@healthcareers.org) with any questions you may have.

      • 2026 Summer Healthcare Paid Internship Program: We are excited about the plans that are being finalized for our second summer internship program for college students (or recent graduates). Last year's pilot was very successful with 21 students completing the program. This year, we had over 130 strong applicants, with a comprehensive matching process currently taking place to find the best fit for approximately 25 students to spend 10-weeks working for healthcare organizations in the area. Please contact Alivia Shorter (ashorter@healthcareers.org) with any questions you may have.

    • Advocacy:

      • Cal Poly Masters of Public Policy Student Project: We are partnering with a team of MPP students who will be working with the Advocacy Committee to identify issues that the Partnership can support to promote healthcare workforce initiatives and increased funding opportunities (i.e., scholarships, tuition reimbursement, career pathway development, etc.). The project starts on April 7 and concludes on June 2, 2026.  You may receive an invitation to be interviewed by the students to solicit your opinion on potential advocacy opportunities. We anticipate that the results of the project will be presented to the Partnership membership at an upcoming monthly meeting.
